Places, where I find myself

Strolling: Salisbury

Brewing Storm: Salisbury

Famous for its prehistoric stone circles at Avebury and  Stonehenge and shrouded in mystery, myth and legend the Wiltshire countryside is beautiful. On weekends I often find myself immersed myself in overgrown paths, walking the dog and taking photographs. The vast fields where huge cloud formations sweep across open skies and weather conditions change in a few minutes.

I love walking around the Wiltshire country side and the nearby New Forest. I remember on this occasion I was on a long walk and stopped for a rest. As I leaned against the fence this beautiful black horse majestically walked over to me. Acknowledge my presence, took a quick look, checked me out and then rejoined the others. It was one of those strange moments where you feel a connection took place.

I always find Camden to be one of those places that draws people for many reasons. The tourists, trendies, drunks and druggies all seem to collide together. As night falls the area becomes a little more tense and people start to be a little more aware of one another.

I have a teeengae daughter who likes rock music, which inevitably means I escort here to rock concerts. This means I need to occupy myself for a few hours whilst my daughter and her friend enjoy the mayhem. On this occasion it was a band called Five Finger Death Punch at the Forum, London. I went for a walk to Kentish Town.

At least one day a week I walk past the House of Commons. Normally on the south-side of the Thames where I see all the tourist trying to capture a photograph of the clock tower. On this day I joined them, but massed the photo up a little bit.

Pubs come in a variety of states and sizes. In a working class community, which I was brought up in they became one of the focus points of the local neighbourhood. Less so now with the advent of cheap take away booze from supermarkets, which seems to have pushed people increasingly to drink vast amounts of alcohol in the home and in many cases alone.

Morning Glory – Salisbury

I must admit I had a little giggle to myself when I wrote the title of this little blog and photo collage. Salisbury is such a conservative, but beautiful city. I do just like wandering around and taking random shots. I’m sure it has all the problems that blight most communities, excessive drink and drug use, employment, crime, etc. Salisbury just has a good way of  hiding it.
